Justice & Kaos dedicate “Strength You Found” to Michael Jackson
In light of the recent passing of Michael Jackson, Justice & Kaos would like to dedicate ‘Strength You Found’ from the Pre Season Mixtape to his memory. The track uses MJ’s ‘Dirty Diana’ beat and was originally intended to pay homage to the King of Pop, but now we would like to dedicate it to his memory and pay our respect. Rest in Peace Michael Jackson
His impact is truly immeasurable
After a brief hiatus in 2008 spent regrouping and renewing focus, ARIA-nominated Justice & Kaos are back with an ace up their sleeve. The ace card you may ask? That would be the Pre Season Mixtape, themed around the 1992 classic film White Men Can’t Jump. Pre Season is defined as a period prior to the beginning of the regular season and the boys will not be warming the benches in 2009.
Most people became familiar with Justice & Kaos in 2007 through their debut EP release Turn It On (Solid State/Warner) and their efforts on the infamous FOB Mixtape. Both achieved quite a buzz that resulted in the boys winning Best New Artist at the Aus/NZ Urban Music Awards, an ARIA Nomination and of course the Fresh Off the Boat Documentary which appeared on SBS TV. The documentary went on to win Best Short Documentary at the 2009 Chicago International Movies & Music Festival and achieved a string of nominations at the South Australia Screen Awards, as well as being shortlisted to screen at the 2008 BET Urbanworld Film Festival in New York.
But let’s get back to the Pre Season…
2009 once again sees J&K lace the boots up and set their campaign off with the Pre Season Mixtape, the first stage in a busy year for the boys. A highly personal record, the music is indicative of their broad taste range while the subject matter a reflection of their trials & triumphs over the past two years, giving you a first-hand view into the growth of J&K as artists. Sprinkled with samples from the film White Men Can’t Jump and often aligned thematically, expect an honest, rounded record that has the feel of an album whilst borrowing musically from key influences (the boys rock over beats from John Legend, Coultrain, Michael Jackson, Foreign Exchange, Outkast & Moloko to name a few).
Mixed by the group’s official DJ Simon Sez and with a guest verse from Solid State Recordings label mate and FOB Mixtape cohort GMC, this mixtape is an authentic showcase of Justice & Kaos both as a group and individually. Also included as a bonus is the monster Justice solo track “I’m A Star” (Produced by Kaos), serving as a preview of forthcoming material and a book end on the battle career of the best to have done it from this country.
Lace up your boots and fold your peaks upward as the new season is about to get underway.
