Ron Kingston is a significant contender in the line of young soul men (Maxwell, Robin Thicke, Kenny Lattimore) who combine thoughtful lyricism, an old school R&B feel, and smooth sensuality. One listen to Kingston’s new EP “Soul 4”, and there’s no doubt about it. The Melbourne native has all the elements to become a major star. The vocal and lyrical influence of Smoky Robinson and Sade is evident on “All You Need to Know,” “Make it up to You,” and the emotive ballad “Only You Only Me,” while “U-Turn,” is one of the disc’s highlights. Kingston is very much his own man with his own unique voice. Kingston’s release is a pun on words as the EP includes just 4 indelible yet original songs.
