Chris Brown
Chris Brown sentence debate begins…
And so the debate begins…did Chris Brown’s sentence fit his crime?
After he pleaded guilty to felony assault on ex-girlfriend and pop princess Rihanna, Brown was sentenced to six months of community service and five years of probation.
There has been some backlash as to whether the crime deserved a harsher sentence. People have argued that Brown should have received some time behind bars to learn a lesson for his actions.
Most have said, however, that for a first time offender, the sentence is not unusual, and does not reflect special treatment based on his high profile.
In addition to the community service, Brown will also have to attend anger management classes.
So what effect will this have on his career? It is believed that his admission of guilt will make it hard for the young superstar to regain some of the lucrative endorsement deals he was enjoying prior to the incident last February.
As far as his recording career goes however, all may not be lost. His new track ‘Smash’ is expected to be one of his next singles. Although Brown may lay low for a while, it is likely that his fans will support him through the ordeal and be there when he decides to emerge into the music scene once more.
