#1 Want It All – Mya feat Sisqo
It’s been over 10 years since Mya burst onto the scene with her platinum self-titled album and the subsequent string of hits that followed including Free, Case Of The Ex & It’s All About Me. Now in the twilight years of her career, she’s popped up again with the hot new single Want it All featuring fellow veteran performer Sisqo. It takes a while to grow on you but the more you play it, the more you want to hear it. Watch out for the forthcoming video for it, Sisqo’s bleached locks are gone (thank god for that!) Her sixth studio album will be released early December via Planet 9 Records.
Tupac’s lyric’s & notes find a new home.
The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation will partner with the Woodruff Library in Atlanta to make available Tupac’s writings, papers, and personal notes for scholarly research. The Tupac Collection will include the late rapper’s personal items, including track listings, handwritten lyrics, fan correspondence, video and film concepts. Combined, the library hopes that the materials will give a deeper insight into the mind of Tupac’s genius.
“The Woodruff Library Archives has done a phenomenal job archiving my son’s materials,” said Afeni Shakur. “I thank their staff for partnering with my family and the foundation in helping to make these important documents available in a professional manner that will benefit scholars for years to come.” In addition, the library plans to archive all of the information onto a digital media base, making the collection available to students from Clark Atlanta University, Morehouse, and Spelman. “Mr. Shakur was a multi-dimensional artist who helped define a musical genre,” said Loretta Parham, CEO and library director, “and as the academic library serving four institutions of higher learning, it is our mission, as well as a great privilege, to help promote scholarship and research of his work, and the mechanics of his creative process and the hip hop culture.” The Tupac Shakur Collection opens in early 2010.
Eminem’s publisher sues Apple & Aftermath Records.
Eminem’s music publisher, Eight Mile Style is planning to sue both Apple and Aftermath Records for the unauthorized distribution of 93 of Em’s songs in downloadable formats via iTunes. The case, which was filed back in 2004, will go to trial on in Detroit next week if a settlement is not reached beforehand. Eight Mile claims that Apple illegally made over USD $2.5 million from Eminem iTunes downloads, a bulk of which came from the 2002 smash single “Lose Yourself,” off of the “8 Mile” movie soundtrack. Not only does the publishing company demand money for the loss in royalties, they are also asking for a share in profits of Apple’s iPod sales.
In addition, Eight Mile Style alleges that Aftermath collected USD $4 million from Eminem’s music sales in partnership with Apple. Although Aftermath and Apple refute the accusations, showing court documents that suggest Aftermath owns the exclusive rights to Eminem’s master compositions, the publishing company believes it actually owns the rights to Em’s music.
This is not the first time Aftermath and Apple have had to go to court over licensing disputes. In 2007, Em’s producers, FTB Productions also filed suit against Aftermath for licensing Em’s music to Apple’s iTunes.
If the trial is taken to court, Eminem may act as a witness.

Lil Boosie’s of the jail for 2 years.
Rapper Lil Boosie has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to drug and gun charges.
The rapper says he plans to spend as much time with his children as possible before serving his sentence. His prison term could be considerably shortened if he qualifies for early release due to good behavior. Boosie will serve at least one year in prison after prosecutors reached an agreement with his lawyers in which all but two years of a 10-year sentence were suspended. The rapper will also be on active supervised probation for two to five years after his release from prison. If he completes his probation, the gun charge will be dropped. the judge set a November 9 sentencing date and strongly warned Boosie to stay out of trouble and away from drugs, guns and convicted felons between now and his sentencing. If the rapper is rearrested, tests positive for drugs or fails to show up for his November sentencing date, the judge warned the consequences will be harsh.
