X & Hell - Million Dollar Sex Party
Who wants to have a million dollar sex party!!! Come on who doesn’t. X and Hells new album has just been released and it is already defining them one of Australia elite acts. Their new album is their best work to date not to mention they boast possibly best album name ever (I just want to be invited to one). In its entirety this album hits the mark on all fronts, from the futuristic concept artwork to the top shelf music production. Seriously X and Hell have put a lot of thought into their sound and how they are perceived.
The sounds have evolved since the days of Weapon X and Ken Hell and in this market reinvention is hard as artist. Because as we all know us Australians are fickle creatures when it comes to supporting are own artists, as any creative change usually brings backlash. But it in this case X and Hells “Million Dollar Sex Party” delivers. The Melbourne boys have maintained their original lyrical swagger you know and love but truly transcended it to a new place with their world-class production.
If I had to label the genre-blending album under a category, hmm I think I would have to call it ‘CyperPorn’ lol, because even though the beats are from the future they maintain a lot 80’s funk elements and melodies. The leading track “don’t stop moving” is sure to get people jumpin on the club circuit, with its thumping kick drums and smartly used samples. But my personal favourite has to “My FKN Hat’ true story after listening to this track I went out to get loose and had some tipsy chick at the club ask me if she could wear my hat… So I had to sing her ‘No I wont take my motherF*##*$ hat off” aah classic. Another track that stands out is the lyrically funny “Monster” with seductive synths and catchy chorus.
My only fear when I hear a solid album like this, is that people don’t find out about it. Marketing budgets are hard to come by in this industry. In all, X & Hell new “Million Dollar Sex Party” is definitely a must get and i’m sure it will keep current fans happy while appealing to a hell of a lot more, so come and join the party B*#ches!
