B.o.B. wows Sydney - July 2010
Walking into the arena i was quite surprised by the number of people who were there over an hour before B.o.B was to take the stage. There was excitement in the air. I guess i wasn’t the only one eager to see what the star had to offer.
He is fresh, he is new and he is taking the world by storm. With his name on every chart show on every commercial and urban radio station, and saturating MTV with his new collaborations, B.o.B. had created a stir well before stepping into the country. Needless to say, I was more than a little curious to see him live on stage at the Metro in Sydney on 20 July 2010
When he finally got on stage with his band, backup singers and dancers, we were all ready for a hot show. and yes, that he delivered.
From start to finish B.o.B gave the crowd just what they came for. One energetic performance after another, that kept everyone on their feet, with their hands in the air. I was particularly taken back by his versatility - as he went from rapping to singing, playing the guitar and then the keyboard as if it were all just a walk in the park on a sunday afternoon. A walk he very much enjoyed!
Interestingly, I couldn’t help but draw a resemblance to Outkast frontman Andre 3000 through some of the tracks. And although he didn’t have Hayley Williams or Bruno Mars on stage with him, B.o.B.’s solo versions of “Airplanes” and “Nothing on You” were the favourites of the night.
B.o.B. may still be in his early 20s but it feels like he has been performing for much longer! He was having fun and so was everyone else. I am so glad i made it to the show and i’m sure everyone else who has seen him live would agree that B.o.B is certainly a talented artist who loves what he does, and it looks like he will be around for quite a while.
