Snoop Dogg - The West Coast Blueprint
Snoop Doggs wasted no time in his new role as creative chairman at Priority Records. The celebrity CEO’s first task was releasing the new compilation Snoop Dogg presents “The West Coast Blueprint”. Basically the Dogg has compiled twenty 1 tracks and interludes designed to educate listeners and give them an audio template and how it’s done on the west coast. With tracks talking about everything G’s do from being hustlers to being players, yep it has it all.
Snoop has selected songs from all different influential rappers from over the years and even some overlooked but worthy artists like Yo-Yo and Rappin 4-Tay. “The West Coast Blueprint” periodically starts you off at 1988 and takes you on a gangster voyage one track at time through all their trials and tribulations to the current 2010.
Now to take you on the journey, he has acquired classic tracks from artists like Eazy-E with “Eazy-Duz-It” and Luniz “I Got 5 On It” and it was good to see the West coast Connection make their contribution with my personal favourite ‘”Gangstas Make the World Go Round”. The only down side to the album is the massive absence of Death Row Records tracks, which is really needed when doing a compilation like this, as they were at the fore front of West Coast music and lifestyle during its peak years. It’s also worthy to note Snoops interludes along the way as he shares his tales an knowledge with you. Definitely check out if you are west coast hip hop fan.
