Shine With The Line Music Video Competition
What is The Line?
The Line is an Australian Government youth social marketing campaign promoting respectful relationships, targeting youth and their influences in an effort to reduce the incidence of violence in Australia and is paying particular attention to social and online media.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, one in three Australian women will report being a victim of physical violence and almost one in five will report being a victim of sexual violence in their lifetime. Approximately 350,000 women will experience physical violence and 125,000 women will experience sexual violence each year.
The Line Artist Partnership Program
The Line has already forged a strong alliance with the Australian Music Industry through an innovative Artist Partnership Program that utilises the power of music as positive catalyst for changing attitudes and behaviour about violence.
In June four artists Pez, Maya Jupiter, Lisa Mitchell, and Tenielle launched The Line at the APRA Song Summit by performing and issuing a collective communiqué of support, which said:
“When it comes to relationships respecting each other is a great place to start from. It’s about sharing your feelings and dreams with someone who cares enough to respect you for who you are. It’s about drawing the line that makes clear the difference between what’s ok and what’s not.
It’s about respecting yourself. Wherever you are. Whatever you’re doing. Whoever you’re with. That’s why we say yes to The Line.”
As part of their support for The Line from November 15th each artist is bundling two free songs and an exclusive video interview on The Line website.
Shine With The Line Music Video Competition
Pez has extended his relationship with The Line by taking up the invitation to release one of his songs Shine as part of the Campaign in February 2011.
“Saying yes was easy because the song fits so well with what The Line is all about. I like the fact that it is trying to do something positive, promoting respect and breaking the cycle of violence in all its forms in our society, but more than anything I like the fact that it’s going about it in a real and authentic way.”
Pez is also inviting everyone to help him make the Shine Music Video by going to www.theline.gov.au between now and December 15th and using The Line drawing tool to create their own personal image.
Selected drawings will appear in the Shine video clip and win VIP launch and Tour passes for Pez’s upcoming 2011 Tour in support of Shine and his to be released new album.
