Keri Hilson - No Boys Allowed
Keri Hilson - No Boys Allowed
This is Keri’s second studio album, and I must say I have actually enjoyed it more than her first “In a Perfect World”. It may not have peaked as high as her first in the charts, though I found it a more complete album in comparison.
Along with the usual suspects, Timberland, Polow da Don & John Legend, Keri has managed to create an album that celebrates the journey and tenacity that woman have and strengthens women’s confidence, without isolating male listeners. The title “No Boys Allowed” was used because Keri believed that woman have had enough of boys and it’s time for the real men to stand up.
It does have very drum heavy overtone to the album which I didn’t mind, however that may have been the one flaw of the album. The face that it sounds over produced with a real lack of direction. Yet Keri has managed to create a contemporary r’n’b feamle album that isn’t full of ballads, with features from Kayne West, Rick Ross, Chris Brown & T.I. The album has a couple of club worthy tracks. Noticeably my favourite, “The way you love me”, with a hot video to match.
I won’t be overly critical about this album, as i actually enjoyed it. I drop “Pretty Girl Rock”, “Buyou” & “The way you love me” in my sets. “No boys allowed” may have been swamped by male input from producing and writing yet it doesn’t take anything away from her ability to have stood out as a lone voice for the girls.
