#1 Lose Control – Sentury.
Not much I can tell you except these lads hail from Texas and that this is shit hot R&B and it’s the type of track that’s been sadly lacking from dance floors for a long time. Smokin beats & slick vocals with a catchy chorus def all the right ingredients for a smash hit. The girls will eat this up so jump on it fellow DJ’s.
The woes of Suge Knight continue.
Suge Knight’s lawsuit against rapper Kanye West has been delayed following a serious car accident Knight was involved in last month. The former Death Row CEO was forced to miss a court date due to his injuries. “He was in a pretty serious car accident. He lost a couple of teeth, he’s in pain, and he can’t speak,” said Knight’s lawyer, Marc Brumer. Knight is suing West because he was shot and robbed at an event West hosted in 2005 at Miami’s Shore Club, a club which is now under foreclosure. While Knight may be injured now his lawyer is very keen on fulfilling Knight’s lawsuit against West. “[Suge Knight is] a very adept businessman,” Brumer explained. “He’s a mess, but he’s sharp. Nobody likes Kanye West anymore. Even though he’s still selling millions of records, everybody’s sick of him.” Knight is hoping the lawsuit will help cover medical bills that resulted from the Shore Club incident. West has yet to speak out publicly in regards to the lawsuit.
Jigga & Keys ditch The World Cup.
After initial plans to record a new song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, rapper Jay-Z and singer Alicia Keys have decided to scrap the idea. Citing lack of knowledge for what is considered “the world’s game,” Keys explained, “If we did a record about soccer it would be obvious we didn’t know much more about the sport than who David Beckham is.” Despite the canceled song, Alicia Keys is still scheduled to perform for the World Cup Kick-Off Celebration Concert, which occurs on June 10 at the Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa. Other performers for the event include Shakira, the Black Eyed Peas, and John Legend.
Flesh N Bone.
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Stanley “Flesh-N-Bone” Howse was arrested during the group’s concert at the House of Blues in Cleveland, Ohio. Howse was wanted on warrants for felonious assault with a firearms specification and domestic violence with a firearm specification. Authorities from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department said they were anonymously tipped off that Flesh would be performing in the area. Prior to his release in 2008, Flesh spent the better part of a decade in prison after being sentenced in 2000 for threatening a man with an AK-47 assault rifle. Flesh also pleaded not guilty to weapon possession charges in 2009 after a firearm and marijuana were found in his car during a traffic stop. Neither Howse nor his representatives have released a statement on the arrest since the rapper was taken to Cuyahoga County Jail Sunday night.
Ice Cube speaks out.
Ice Cube angered a few West Coast newcomers after suggesting in his blog that, despite his veteran status in the game, he felt no obligations to help bring up local Los Angeles emcees. “They ain’t on my level,” Cube wrote about the new generation of artists. “I don’t even remember ever meeting these clowns or even being in the same room with any of ‘em. They can’t make a name for themselves so they need help from the O.G.’s. I refuse to throw ‘em a life line. Fuck ‘em. It ain’t my job to make nobody famous “Why don’t I produce up and coming rappers like I used to? I got burnt out. Niggas couldn’t take the baton and run wit it. I was sick of babysitting grown ass men and walking them through the industry. I felt like Dr. Frankenstein building uncontrollable monsters. How? If you DON’T make ‘em a star, they blame you. If you DO make ‘em a star, they leave you. I got sick of that ungrateful shit.” Although Cube has not been specific about who he is talking about, he did say he may mention them on his upcoming album I Am The West. “Now, a lot of people want me to name names. Buy the record. In stores July 13th. I ain’t naming names at this time, but I’m adding names. You let me know if you wanna be on the list.”
