#1 –Number One- R KELLY feat KERI HILSON
R. Kelly’s lead track off his as-yet untitled (perhaps the title is “Untitled”, it hasn’t yet been made clear) ninth LP is a smooth track for the ladies, featuring ubiquitous songstress Keri Hilson to spice up the mix. This album has been heavily bootlegged and passed around online, and the release subsequently delayed, so fortunately this track has gone back into the studio for an upgrade, with favourable results. Produced by Polow da Don, known for his previous work with Keri Hilson, Ciara, Usher, Nelly, and the Pussycat Dolls, it features R. Kelly’s trademark sexed-up antics and melodrama. Also check out the just released Polow da Don-produced MJ tribute track, “Better on the Side”, which features The Game, Diddy, Chris Brown, and various others!

Rest in Peace MJ- Entertainer, Philanthropist, Legend
No man has had as much influence in as many genres and in every continent across the globe as the recently departed King of Pop, Michael Jackson. His influence both in popular culture and politics has been extraordinary- for millions of people across the Soviet Union, he was a symbol of the power of youth and freedom of expression, with his tapes being widely bootlegged in the Communist regimes even before his videos were permitted to be broadcasted. To many around the world, he stands tall as one of the African-American pioneers to break through into mainstream American culture and popularize Black music throughout the world the way no-one else could. His countless efforts for charitable causes helped him to transcend the boundaries of language and nation. Michael had suffered greatly in life, with constant media scrutiny for his eccentricities; an unending stream of haranguing accusations which never ceased, despite the charges against him remaining unproven in courts of law. That such a great man should come under such fierce ridicule and be driven to his death through stress and isolation should be a lesson to us all, and the powerful influence the media has on the lives of artists working in the music industry.

Outkast to release three albums in two years
OutKast fans have felt long deprived of new material since the 2006 release of the 2x platinum “Idlewild”, the soundtrack/companion album to the film of the same name, and 2003’s modern masterpiece “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”, which was critically acclaimed (particularly Andre 3000’s ‘Love Below’ disc) and went an extraordinary 11x platinum. Keeping a relatively low profile since then, Big Boi has attributed the release delays of new material to problems within the record company.  In an interview with MTV, he has announced that the release of his solo project, “Sir Lucious Leftfoot: The Son of Chico Dusty”, will be in the near future, followed by Andre 3000’s release, and the much-awaited joint project. Fears have long been growing that the duo had broken up and would go their separate ways, but Big Boi has dismissed these concerns and told fans to expect a star-studded lineup for his new album, which will feature T.I., Too Short, George Clinton, Raekwon, and Mary J. Blige. Three high-quality albums in two years would be a challenge even for the best of artists, but if anyone could pull it off it would be this duo!

Foxy Brown denies living the high life in prison
In an interview with the New York Post, multi-platinum rapper Foxy Brown has denied receiving preferential treatment while serving nine months in prison for parole violation after punching and kicking two nail-salon manicurists in 2006. Prison sources have said she was diva-like in prison, clad in expensive clothes, being delivered meals and makeup, and having unlimited use of of a cell phone and television. The New York Corrections Department has declined these claims, and said that the Gucci and Fendi clothes she wore during her stay were a matter of “prisoner’s choice”. Foxy claimed that the Gucci was required in order to avoid the wearing of any gang colours that might stir up trouble with her fellow inmates! In the past, Foxy has been arrested for an array of crimes, including spitting on two hotel workers for not providing her with an iron, crashing a Range Rover while driving without a license, and punching a Jamaican airport worker in the stomach while evading a body search.
