#1 Knockin’ Your Heels – H Town feat Jodeci & Pretty
A ballad has to be pretty special to make it to track of the week and this freakshow is dripping wet. H Town have been singin’ their lungs out since the early 90’s and this would have to be their best effort in at least 10 years. Combine the grindin beats with Jodeci & Pretty Ricky and what you have is a guaranteed formula for makin’ babies (well practicing at least).  I’d give an arm and a leg to see these guys sing this live, there wouldn’t be a pair of dry panties in the house!

Finally Nas get’s ordered to pay up.
Nas has reportedly been ordered to pay numerous fees stemming from his highly publicized divorce with ex-wife Kelis. According toTMZ , the Queens rapper has been ordered to pay USD $47,249.42 in back child support and USD $40,454 in back spousal support. In addition, Nas must to pay USD $10,000 per month in spousal support until he pays off the USD $299,015.50 he owes Kelis - as determined by the judge. Finally, the emcee is also tasked with paying 90% of Kelis’ legal fees, totaling USD $155,787.28, and must cover USD $48,549.83 in her accounting expenses. The couple’s divorce was confirmed in April of 2009. The two have one son together, born in July 2009. Ouch that’s gotta hurt!

Minaj is on the move.
According to music blog BeStylist.com, Young Money’s Nicki Minaj may have struck a deal with Bad Boy Records owner Diddy for management. The rumors come after reports that Minaj has fired her previous management team headed by Debra Antney (rapper Waka Flocka Flame’s mother). Rumors have suggested that Antney’s termination was brought on by what Minaj felt was Antney’s failure to keep up with managerial duties. Antney is speculated to be the reason the rapper had to forego Rihanna’s “Last Girl Standing” tour, as she may have failed to acquire Minaj’s international work permit.  Minaj’s possible deal with Diddy could be considered an unexpected move. Insiders speculated that the young rapper would take a manager from the Young Money/Cash Money camp. Diddy’s public reputation as an industry manager has been admittedly erratic. While having worked with some of the most talented acts in the industry, artists such as Lil Kim, group Day 26, and Mase, have all left the Bad Boy label due to financial conflicts with Diddy. Minaj has not yet confirmed these rumors.

Just where does Dr. Dre draw his inspiration from?.
Detox has gone from being a highly anticipated album to a running joke about it being a myth. Dr. Dre calmed those nerves this month, when he revealed that the album will definitely come out this year. He also promised a single with Jay-Z, which has yet to be delivered. Although he’s been hard to catch for the last few years, appearing only on rare occasions to answer questions about Detox and other potential albums, he’s been out promoting his Beats by Dr Dre headphones. Part of this run led him to chat with The Washington Post about what he’s been listening to of late and what he listens for in newcomers. Part of Dr. Dre’s legacy is in his own music but much of it is also in his work with new talent. Many will recall Snoop Dogg’s rise to stardom began alongside Dr. Dre. The same was the case for Eminem, Fiddy and The Game, all emcees that gained a bit of help from the Good Doctor and Aftermath at the start of their respective careers. So, what exactly is Dre looking for when he hears or sees new talent? “Originality. Good vocal performance. And if I can get along with them in the studio,” he noted in the brief interview. He went on to share a bit of his influences, citing Kraftwerk and Parliament Funkadelic when asked about what he is currently listening to.
“I’ve been listening to a lot of old 60s and 70s music. Things like Kraftwerk, and Parliament Funkadelic. I’ve really been listening to a lot of Kraftwerk… Kraftwerk had a really big inspiration on the beginning of Hip Hop. My tastes change with the season. Right now it’s Kraftwerk. I’ll see what happens this summer.” In noting that Kraftwerk had a big influence on Hip Hop, it can also be noted that J.J. Fad ("Supersonic"), Biz Markie ("Biz in Harmony"), Afrika Bambaataa ("Planet Rock"), Jigga ("Sunshine," and “It’s Alright") and others have sampled Kraftwerk in the past. P-Funk has also been in many a crate as the group’s been sampled by a long list of producers for tracks by Cube, Pac & Run DMC and many more.
