#1 Dynamite – TAIO CRUZ
As the title would suggest, this club banger from the U.K’s Taio Cruz is about to blow up big time. Thisis club fiya at it’s best and at 103 BPM, it makes a welcomed departure from the mindless uptempo Urban that we’ve become accustomed to lately. Taio is a legend in Europe and hopefully this will put him firmly on the map in other territories.

Eminem the “Artist Of The Decade”
It’s no secret that Eminem is one of the top-selling rap acts of all time. But fans might be surprised to know that Slim Shady was, in fact, the top-selling act in all of music in the 2000s - surpassing pop acts like N’ Sync, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Recently, Eminem was awarded the Nielsen SoundScan “Artist of the Decade Award,” which recognized him for having sales exceeding 32 million units domestically (worldwide, his sales are approximated to be near 80 million). The award was presented to the multi-platinum rapper by Nielsen Entertainment President Eric Weinberg and Nielsen Entertainment’s Retail Relations Vice President Chris Muratore. 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP and 2002’s The Eminem Show were each certified diamond, meaning over 10 million records sold domestically. 2004’s Encore sold over seven million, while 2005’s greatest hits album Curtain Call nearly reached double platinum status. 2009’s Relapse managed to hit platinum before the decade ended as well. In addition, Eminem was part of other high-selling projects which did not count towards his tally as a solo artist, including two platinum D12 albums in 2001’s Devil’s Night and 2004’s D12 World. Other platinum releases included the 8 Mile Soundtrack and Eminem presents The Re-Up.

Black Eyed Peas breaks the digital download record.
Last week, the Los Angeles Hip Hop/Electro Pop collective broke the digital sales record of a single with their 2009-2010 hit “I Gotta Feeling.” The song, produced by David Guetta, appeared on the group’s double-platinum Interscope Records album The E.N.D. (Energy Never Dies) According to Soundscan, the veteran outfit surpassed Flo Rida’s “Low” late last month, when “I Gotta Feeling” cleared 5,560,000 downloads, inching out the Sunshine State rapper by a present margin close to 20,000. The Peas’ have a second track, also from The E.N.D., that is presently among the all time Top 5 most digitally downloaded song purchases: “Boom Boom Pow.” The research conducted is based on from 2003-to-present, when Nielsen began tracking iTunes sales.

Jermaine doesn’t feel respected.
Despite being behind some of the greatest singles of the past decade, Jermaine Dupri still feels that he is an afterthought for artists and music magazines. Citing examples during a recent interview with Vibe, Dupri pointed out how Billboard named Mariah Carey’s We Belong Together as the Song Of The Decade, but gave the producer of the year title to Virginia-based production group, The Neptunes. Using a more recent example, he also highlighted how he was treated in regards to Usher’s sixth studio album, Raymond vs. Raymond. “Well I didn’t really want to be executive producer of Usher’s projects after Confession,” revealed Dupri. “Me as a producer, it’s kind of hard for me to go back into people’s projects when I gave you your biggest album ever…you sold more records than any other artist in the decade based on that album and now I have to ask you am I the executive producer of your next album? That seems disrespectful to me. Obviously, I’m looking at something different than everyone is looking at it whether it’s the label, the artist, management…whoever it is.”
Dupri recently re-launched his Atlanta-based So So Def Record Label with plans to put out the work of some newer talent he has found, and the producer said that he is making a conscious effort to work with younger artists in the future.“I’m not going to keep sticking my neck out…I don’t feel like I’m supposed to ask to produce anymore. People are supposed to come to me and tell me that I’m the executive producer. That’s why I get more kicks working with younger artists,” he said. In related news, Dupri is slated to be honored at the VH1’s upcoming Hip Hop Honors awards show along with other southern hip-hop music staples later this year. He recently signed YouTube star Dondria to So So Def and the songstress’ single, You’re The One, is currently at the #23 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
