After just a short time of working together, celebrated Cairns duo Fozzey & VanC present their full length recording debut, “Under Pressure - The Mixtape” Not to be confused with their upcoming debut album, “Under Pressure” is an 18 track genre-straddling selection of collaborations, remixes and original recordings, exploring all aspects of urban music, including elements of dubstep, hip-hop and electro, rounded out with sensibilities of pop music.

Since teasing audience’s with their first radio offering “Spaceship Girl”, Fozzey & VanC have gone from Cairns’ best kept secret to Australian icons in the making. Between racking over 100, 000 (and counting!) YouTube plays, and supporting industry giants Jessica Mauboy and Flo Rida, the eighteen year old boys are steadily making their presence felt nation wide, and earning the respect of their recording industry peers.

Lending vocal support to “Under Pressure” are award-winning Melbourne duo, “Justice and Kaos”, “Forbes” as well as international guest “Hard Target” just to name a few.

With an online buzz reaching deafening levels, the timeOUT Magazine award nominated artists are ready to transform from local talent to household names. With early mix-show radio and club support from leading Australian DJ’s including Nino Brown, A.N.G, Kronic and many others, “Under Pressure” is sure to be considered a classic. GrooveOn speak to Fozzey and & VanC upon the release of “Under Pressure - The Mixtape”...

1. How did ‘Fozzey and Van C’ get started?

We went to school together but never really knew eachother . One day Fozzey heard that VanC was a producer and hit him up for some beats… a few awkward meetings & conversations later we discovered that working together we could create a pretty cool sound. Then we linked in with A.N.G from Evident Entertainment who helped us fine tune it all and I guess all the pieces fell together at the right time.

2. Your music expands over several genres. How do you describe your style of music?

We have always tried to steer away from being branded by a genre. When people ask us this we like to answer with “Good Music” haha. 

3. What inspires your music?

To be honest I think life experience inspires our music the most. We love writing and producing music that people can relate to.

4. Which artists do you listen to most often?

This is a funny question because we both have a very different taste of music but some things we really have in common. VanC is inspired by a lot of house artists like Axwell, Skrillex, Bloc Party, MGNT etc and Fozzey is more inspired by artists like 360, pez, illy, horrowshow etc. I think the one artist we both are inspired by would have to be Drake.

5. What can be expected from your mixtape?

We are trying to explore everything in our first release. Everything has been done in-house from recording, remixing, mixing, mastering etc. We cover the high bpm dance stuff, the slow emotional stuff, the stories and a lot of personal experience.  More than anything I think this mixtape is a giant vent session for the both of us and of course a big thank you to all the haters haha.

6. Who would you love to collaborate with?

Everyone really at this point we love trying new things and new styles and I think every artist has there unique sound so I would love to work with as many people as we can. 

7. Your mixtape is titled ‘Under Pressure’. Do you feel any pressure to stay on top considering how fast you have skyrocketed to stardom?

I wouldn’t say we are quite on top haha, Far from it actually but we are just enjoying the ride and the opportunity to share our music and passion with those willing to listen.  The pressure we feel most is from ourselves being our own critics.

8. You have the support of some of Australia’s most prominent DJs, have a solid fan base and have even been nominated for a timeOUT Award. How does it feel to be embraced and recognized by the music community at such a young age?

Its an amazing feeling that is really hard to put into words to be honest. We are so greatful to have the support that we receive and so thankful for the opportunities that we are being presented.

9. What’s the key to your success?

Hard Work & Determination would have to be it. We are in the studio almost everyday working on new material and we have a great manager who “tries” to keep us inline haha.

10. Are there plans of touring the country?

Eventually, Yes. It has always been a dream of ours to tour Australia and hopefully that dream comes closer to a reality.

11. What do you want Australia to know about Fozzey and Van C?

We are two guys from Cairns with a strange addiction to sunglasses, skinny jeans and good music haha.
