in the club play what they want to hear or play to the crowd???

it doesnt matter how good of a dj u are, if u dont make the crowd happy then u will fail as a club dj and not get any gigs anywhere

i think the only time u can kinda play wat u wanna hear is when u do the opening shift

i thought so… some dj’s play stuff that nobody’s heard of....

I play what the crowd wants to hear, but will try and drop one or 2 tracks inbetween that I wanna hear (hoping they will like it too) and if the dont like it I just go back to playing the style of stuff they wanna hear..

if ur gonna play tracks that the ppl in the clubs dont know about then atleast talk on the mic and say who sings it

When I used to play alot - I would definately drop tons of new stuff, But only when it was HOT and I knew it was the shit. I figured Im fussy as hell with music and if this track is something I cant get enough of then the public will eventually like it if I keep pimping it to them. Take Kelly Prices Good love or Blackstreets On the floor as examples. How did a track that never got released make it so big in the clubs? The DJs of course

But I would never ever play a new track just because it was “new”. I hate it when DJs do that. They dont even like the song themselves but hey its the “new” track that no one has so they drop it for bragging rights…

i know plenty of djs in sydney who due new stuff to see how it goes most of the time its all good usually when im mcing and they drop new shit i alaways see dudes tryin to check the track name on the djs laptop or they just come and ask me, or other djs do the sneaky ninja styles to find out what the tracks are lol for that reason i know a a dj who has a new track he likes to play and i havent herd anyone else play it yet he changed the title name to slow down the process of the song being shared around its a cover of stevie wonders i just called.

yeh i change the title names aswell bc i really do not want others playing the stuff i get

i have a track atm that ppl down here want but when ever they check my serato its got some random name

they come back the next week asking me if its the correct name and i just laugh at them and tell em to get there own music

fluke u gotta remember that those days are so much different compared to wat we have now, if we dont drop something these idiots havent heard on the radio then they panic and think they need to give blood or something

if im gonna drop something new i will always have something that they know ready to be played if that track struggles

Even if they do find out what track the dj played wont it be hard for them to find anyway?

most of the time it will be but i still dont tell anyone wat the track or remix i am playing is

I find when dropping a new track esp one that hasnt been released that obviously the crowd is either gonna love it or hate it so as sef said u gotta have a mad track that u kno they will love ready to go.. about a month ago i wanted to try this new beyonce track i thought was hot - good female track wasnt sure if the crowd would love it or hate it. They were bouncing around to the song like it was they favourite track and then i had ppl asking me all night wat was that first track u played. So when it does work out its mad cos u can play a track u love and the crowd loves everyones happy. But then yes its annoying when copy cats go out and play it the next night.. luckily i havent heard anyone else play this one yet .. cos its a hardcore chick song lol so im allowed.

yeh l’ll leave all the chick songs to u aight bc i kinda feel abit funny playing them

the worst thing is when u have other djs looking at the track and artist name on serato to see wat ur playing which is why its important to rename the track

i will keep that in mind for when i get serato
