Missed the ‘at the moment’ part cos your right, currently she is doing well, probably will do well for years to come. Also sort of took the ‘at the moment’ as meaning to date. Securing the grammy afterparty is no walk in the park, I some how still believe that even in terms of publicity and bookings she wouldn’t be on top? Correct me if I’m wrong but example Course and Smilie have cemented themselves in a positioin where regardless of her getting the afterparty or booking gigs internationally as she does they would still be doing way more touring and making way more in terms of CD sales, publicity, bookings, endorsements etc? Forgive the marketing expressions but I see them as having reached critical mass and not yet at product decline!
Yea fair call I think coursey ans Smilie are booked more and have stronger internatiional currency....They do Ibiza and freaky shit...But look at who we’re comparing her to in terms of popularity and booking power (NOT technical ability). She’s not doing badly if we even discuss her in the same thread....

True, she has raised a lot of noise in the scene recently, to me though the context within which we are mentioning her (well my opinion is) she could probably get there but has a LONG way to go before she does and still right now she doesn’t have the respect of her ‘homegrown’ peers, so many times i’ve heard dj’s in australia and not just on this thread going “god damn, i walked out of that gig she was doing” and not just dj’s but let’s call them slightly educated patrons as well.
how far do you think she’s going to go? yep the grammy’s afterparty is a madd gig however look at who was there, will-i-am, dr dre, etc. now i know will-i-am has changed in recent years to accommodate the style he’s had to adopt to sell records etc but if memory serves me correct the guy can beatmix!
-EDIT again, I don’t mean to be Havana-bashing, anything that lifts the profile of the urban scene in aust and melb is good however I think we need the right ambassadors and I don’t find a barbie doll is the right image for our urban scene
