A few months back I came across my Graceland CD and couldn’t believe I’d let so much time lapse from the last time I listened to it. What was more of a surprise was when I mentioned it to people only to find that some of my friends loved it too. Who knew?!

I think I’ll still listen to it for years to come… funnily enough though, not a huge fan of his Garfunkel days. Not sure why.

Anyways, anyone come across something similar to this album?

Nice! Altho it’s titled Graceland it has more to do with Africa than Elvis!
Can’t recall an album to match, but Graceland the track has that slow country/rockabilly feel to it - kinda like a slow ‘tiger army’ song…

Yup yup!! I still remember that video.

My fave is “Diamonds On The Sole of Her Shoes”. Totally lifts my spirits, I can’t be in a bad mood when that song is playing.

I still love this track and the film clip with Chevy Chase haha how 80’s!! I loved Chevy Chase!!

Other than that though, to be honest, I have only heard maybe 10 other tracks but couldn’t name them for you if you asked me!!

Any reccommendations other than that diamonds one??

WOW, good music discussed on GO who woulda thunk it.

Ok, so im a HUGE & i mean HUGE Paul simon fan, got all his shit, imo one of the best song writers of the 20th century.
for me my fav song of all time from any artist is Paul Simon’s 50 ways to leave your lover,
the american drummer boy start just gets me everytime.

Graceland was a magic album, we all know that, however also if you get a chance go & buy Still Crazy After All These Years.
just as good imo,

OK I had to reply to this thread

Graceland is Radical Man’s favorite album of all time. It is an absolute classic. Paul released Hearts and Bones and it wasnt well received. He was going through a rough patch in his career, he was given a tape by his song writing partner and he heard the song gumboots this inspired him to travel to africa and record IMO one of the most important albums of all time. He hooked up with african musicians some of whom were not even allowed to perform in their homeland. In my opinoon when you hear the story of South Africa there should be a piece on Paul Simon because his Graceland album and concert for Africa were important cornerstones in shifting the views of the people at that time.

While Graceland is timeless Paul also released some other awesome albums after like Rhythm of the saints..but he returned recently with Suprise which was just off da hissy lol....

For the record my fav track on the album is I Know What i Know...just awesome how Paul’s harmonys blend with the African singers.
