Also I was going to mention there are probably exercise businesses in Canberra (there are some here) that run group exercise classes for mothers that you can bring your kid to.

This is a really good resource of exercises that don’t require equipment. You can easily do them at home (but I’m not saying it will be easy!).
Dancing around to the Wiggles counts if you do it long enough and hard enough.  Have you got something you can step on and off of?  I’ve got a low wooden box thing that I incorporate into our home “dancercise” sessions.
I’m happy to follow your progress and send you an eKickInTheAss when you need it and post a gold star for you when you deserve it
grin It’s great that you’re walking regularly and you’re noticing some change.  You can easily lengthen your route by doubling back as far as you want and then continuing.  If some bozo looks at you weird for passing his house twice, just remember what you’re achieving, and that it will be worth it.  Eventually you’ll be able to walk your route twice and pick up the pace even more.

After I had bub I went to those classes they do at the hospital - she screamed so much the two times I went, I had to just hold her the whole time.  So I didn’t go back.  We did do a lot of walking and I lost a lot of the baby weight pretty fast.  Just the pesky remainders, and the weight that was there before that is still hanging around!

I’m going to get a step of some kind.  I think that’s a really good idea.

And, gee, walking the route twice?  Seriously, I should have been able to think of that one myself!!!

Asanka

all jokes a side, anyone here actually play golf?

Im a very keen golfer, been playing for years, anyone in melb up for a round

I’ve only played mini golf but would love to learn to play! Lets line it up!!

Some people think my fitness routine is a little nuts, but I love it. None of what I do is to get skinny, just to keep fit.

My main things are;
-Group Personal Training; Running (usually around 4k) then Push ups, sit-ups, sprints, squats etc. Boxing or Running is the usual focus.
-Boxing Class. Skills and Strength training. Boxing and Push-ups etc- its Mitts and Gloves not Boxercise…
-Basketball

Its all done for fun (I love it) and with friends. I keep it very social so its more appealing. I can’t just go to a gym for an hour and come feeling like I’ve pushed myself, sweated and worked as hard as I do with these classes.

Boxing and Personal Traning has increased my strength and fitness but about 40% so far. My butt might be smaller, but still have the same shape etc. Just feel better and have more energy.

I’m just wondering what people know about hypothyroidism, and about the medication that’s used to treat it.  I’ve been told the condition affects energy and weight, but apart from that I don’t really know a lot (I suppose I should just google it, but I prefer hearing people’s experiences rather than the textbook definition)

Thanks

Haha it’s getting close to that time of year again when the bathers come out and everyone wants to be looking good.

I started my summer fitness regime over a month ago and now i’m hooked! I work on a four day split at the gym -

Day 1 - Chest & Tri’s
Day 2 - Shoulders & Bi’s
Day 3 - Back & Stomach
Day 4 - Legs

While i’m not fat, i’d like to tone up tonnes and the only way to do that is to lower my body fat levels so cardio will come into play starting next month.

It’s so funny down at the gym - everyone seems to take a long ass break over winter (mine was over 3 months :() as soon as abit of sun is out we’re all back!

Any other FF memebers here? If so, which one?

I was at Fitness First until a couple of months ago, when I switched to the uni gym.  I went to the Wollongong FF, but have also been to 3 others.  Wollongong is the worst one I’ve been to.  The uni gym has better equipment.  The cardio equipment all has touch screens and you can plug in an ipod to listen to and even download your workout to it.  I still go to FF to do my personal training sessions though.

I don’t know how anyone could willingly take such a long break form gym.  I start feeling chubbery if I take three days off!...As happens during the school holidays...But I got to swim class yesterday and today, and tomorrow I can go to Bodycombat, then personal training on Friday.  My fitness has dropped off a bit and I’ve gained some flab, but it’s not too bad.  Things will be back in the right direction from Monday.

I need to do more swimming practice breathing on my right side.  Or grow gills - that would be awesome.  And I want to practice diving.  Cos I suck bad at it.  And I actually think my backstroke has become worse.  I can’t swim it straight red face

OK, so I feel bad now that I haven’t exercised the last 2 days - due to working 12 hour days.  But I know I’ll do some tomorrow and the day after.

But I feel like a bit of a, well, loser, here.  I don’t do anywhere near what the rest of you are outlining, and I was proud that I was managing anything at all, but now I’m thinking that if I can’t work my ass off in a gym (literally lol) which honestly I simply don’t have time to do, and I kind of think, well, if I can’t do as much as I should be doing, what’s the point?

I want to improve my fitness and my health, but I can’t make it as good as it can possibly be at the moment.  Which means I will stay rather flabby.  Which means I will never look the way I would like to.  Oh, grow up and get over it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And kudos to you all for your commitment.  Maybe that’s my problem…

Uhh...I don’t work 12 hour days.  I don’t work!  I work out.  Don’t feel bad.  You’re certainly not a loser.  Think of how many obese people there are who aren’t even trying to do anything about it.  Do what you can.  You said it’s already making a difference.  So just stick with it.  It would be rediculous for you to begin with doing exercise of the frequency and intensity of some of us right now.  Not only do you not have the time for it but you’re just not at that level of fitness.  That doesn’t mean you’re going to stay flabby.  You just need to realise that it’s going to be a journey.  You’ll have to work to get there and it will take some commitment.  But the point is that it’s good for you.  Whatever you can manage will be beneficial for you.

I’ve stopped feeling so pathetically sorry for myself today - apologies for my previous post.  Yes, I’ll keep at it, because I do feel like its good for me, and if it doesn’t do much to change my body shape, at least I know I’m helping myself out, and doing something to look after *me* (as opposed to child and hubby).

And I’m getting stronger, I can tell.

Patience is a virtue?  Not one of mine! lol

Pft.

Well actually, you may. I just got back from the natropath who’s put me on a grain free diet. GRAIN FREE. ALMOST EVERY TYPE OF FOOD HAS A GRAIN IN IT!!!!

This may affect my gains at the gym, as i’m gonna find it hard to keep my calories high on such boring food. Ah well, here goes nothin’.

Woah.  You can’t even have marshmallows!  But you can have chicken, eggs, steak, yoghurt, baked beans, fish, fruit, veggies (but not corn...)..lots of stuff really.  You cannot eat Skittles.  What ailment could possibly be cured by a diet free from Skittles?  I can’t believe you fell for that cheese  Does that mean you can’t have your meal replacement anymore?

I think you all should just embrace your fat. If not, donate it to me.

I’m hungry. Marshmallows yummm.
