They rarely get a mention!

Who is your fave and why?

Who’s at the top of the game now?

Why is it harder for women to make it?

L-Boogie has to be my all time favourite, IMO no one else can touch her. She will always be the best. Jean Grae is definitely a close second; dope lyrics, raw style… I love her. I think she lives in my mind sometimes. Bahamadia for her voice and flow especially.

I don’t know if I agree that female emcees are generally shit, but you do have the Lil’ Kims, Foxys, Trinas (although I like Trina lol) etc using sex to sell, and well, not much else. But then, theres plenty of male emcees doing the same thing. Then you have someone like Jean Grae, whos lyrical excellence and word play is better then alot of the guys in the industy.

I haven’t heard many female emcees i’ve really been into.

When i think of female hip hop, i think of missy elliot. When i think of Missy Elliot, i think of that “music makes you lose control” track. When i think of that track, i think of jumping off a cliff.

Not that familiar with many of the real hiphop mcs, but Lauryn is up there for me too even when she went through her nutty phase, her lyrics were deep and insightful.

Da Brat and MC Lyte are cool.

Rah Digga sometimes sounds like she could be a bit “special needs”.

Jean Grae pretty much shes held it down for females for a long time skillwise. Lil Kims first album Hardcore was dope but thats cos Biggie wrote most of it.

Thats why I like her. Rah Digga is actually pretty cool.

Missy used to be good. All her shit sounds the same now. Shes boring.

Ooh Rage was so good then she just disappeared. She came down for Snoops last Tour n did Afro Puffs which was a good blast from the past.

Didn’t mind me some Charlie Baltimore, Lady May and Luck once upon a time.

Remy Ma does it for me, if anything for the simple fact that when I listen to her I’m scared SHITLESS lol.

As far as all time faves - for flow… MC Lyte! And Jean Grae for the lyrical.
