The Champions Trophy is reminding me of how exciting ODI cricket can be.

I was on the edge of my seat staying up all night when India and Pakistan played their group match.

And last nights match was a thriller up until the last ball.

Pakistan made an average score which everyone thought the Aussies would just cruise to. They were cruising and needed only 80 with 7 wickets in hand and nearly 20 overs to go. But the Paki’s bowled some awesome spin and pace in the last 20. And for the first time in a long while the whole of India wasnt even watching the India Windies match played at the same time. They were more interested in Pakistan winning so that India can make the semi finals. It nearly happened but the Aussies drew the game with 1 ball to spare and ended up getting the final run to win the game. But the impossible of Pakistan winning at the 30 over mark to the near victory right at the end was awesome.

This is why 50 over cricket should stay as a major format of cricket. As much as i love Twenty20 the game is too predictable and you loose the front line bowlers vs tail ender batsmen battles which last night proved was soo exciting.  50 overs allows a team to claw themselves back into a game. Especially with teams like Australia where they were cruising with Ponting and Hussey...but in the back of our minds we knew that if those 2 were dismissed then Australia has a very inexperienced middle order and good bowling would put pressure on that..which it did.

Wot a great day first Hey Hey returns and then a cracking cricket match.

I think England might just upset Australia in the first semi. And the tougher 2nd semi will depend on who bowls first...if Pakistan can bowl first they should win with their bowling lineup...if NZ bowl first then Pakis weak batting may proove fragile.

just got home from work, checked the scores and l’ll say that the paki’s will beat the NZ team and then will go on and beat the aussies for the weak version of the world cup

Not enough runs on the board. Bowlers were awesome...but as usual our batsmen didnt put the score on the board.

Yea boi. Go kiwi’s. I watched the whole game on saturday nite as well. I didnt wana miss out on a 21st party and stay up till 7:30 just for nz to lose.lol.

Though we are huge underdogs, I believe well have a chance if we bat 2nd. And if McCullum gets his straps on.

just had a look and yeh the kiwi’s are struggling bad, the pace of the aussie bowlers is to much for them atm

As you already know with the Pakis.

We have the best bowling attack in the world...but St Albans Under 19’s have a better batting lineup than us.

In that match with New Zealand. There were many reasons to why Pakistan lost...the first was unusual batting, Nazir and Akmal...who are both agressive..Nazir is Afridi on drugs..yet both of them played conservitive knocks...The Yousuf tried to anchor the innings and ended up wasting too many balls. If it wasnt for Mohammed Amer and Saeed Ajmal at the end we would have been bowled out for 180.

Then when it was bowling time, we had everything under control, except that Younis Khan dropped a catch at the crucial moment and then Vettori was smart enough to play himself and Elliot in and then time the Power play to perfection. After that Pakistan lost it because defending a 60 runs with 60 balls was always going to be pressure on any lineup during a batting power play. Rana who was awesome and unplayable against Aussies started giving no balls and free hits to the kiwis lol.

Take nothing away from New Zealand...finally they beat us in a semi final lol....if u look back in history of tournaments the kwis have always played pakistan in semis and lost lol...so good on them and even more credit to New Zealand because they were hit with alot of injuries. But final conclusion it was more the fact that Pakistan lost the game with some stupid strategies especially in their batting.

I dare say if Pakistan would have won the final would have been close as the pitch in the final was sub continent like.

Final thoughts. 50 over cricket kicks ass over 20 over cricket.
Pakistan beat India
West Indies need to get their main team back
Australia too good.
England (Cant believe they are so shit considering they invented the game cricket lol)
Sri Lanka - Unlucky
India - Even though the game with Australia was washed out...they didnt play up to their potential.
South Africa..they don’t deserve the number 1 crown because they always seem to choke in big pressure tornys.
New Zealand - Great tournament by the black caps.

I dont think they throw matches. Its just the country they come from. If they win like in the World T20 everyone in pakistan is like yea wonderful team bla bla...then when they loose a match the same people are saying that they threw the match. I personally think Younis Khan has done a wonderful job with the team and i dont think the team throws matches. Maybe in the old days with Saleem Malik n stuff but not now.

The problem is that cricket is like a religion in Pakistan/India so there is soo much pressure on players these days. I mean Indians are not happy that their team didnt do well in the tornament and im sure they are more cut with the fact that they lost to Pakistan. And because Pakis lost to Australia your always going to have Indians saying we lost the match on purpose not to let India in the Semis.

Watson...well we have all bagged him but when he is not injured he has been decent.

and as for watson i hated him but i gotta admitt man, some of hes 6’s he has scored have being crazy shots, like one pull shot hit some poor kid on the head and they kept on showing it on the replay lol
