Long overdue but worth the wait. Not as good as urban hang suite (which would be in my top 20 best ever) but still excellent.

interesting you post this, i had a chat with nick about this album & i felt let down, other than the tracks you posted i felt it was another Maxwell album with a 1 or 2 gems & then filled up with run of the mill soul music.

Youd think given how long he has had to work on this album it would be full of good tracks.

i hav to admit i was pretty dissapointed with this release...all this time away and this is what we waited for. I can only hope d’angelo doesn’t do the same if and wen he will release another album, standout track for me though was ‘love you’

I’d say D’angelo is too much of an artist to release something substandard. Rumour was going around earlier in the year that Prince was working with him on the album, and damn that would be a studio session to sit in on.

Anyway, maxwell.... Yeh mediocre… The album just wont have the same longevity as Urban Hang Suite. He did his bit to set the mark for soul artists to follow, but is now being outshone by others

Slightly disappointed… Having Urban hang suite’s whole album, “as my girl” and “no one” as some of my favourite all time songs, I didnt think any track on this album matched that.

and having “The Musze” as one of my picks for being an absolute genius arranger/producer… i dunno, i didnt feel it as much on this release

Really hoping its a creeper or part 2 is better.

Having said that, the album is still good. I wont say it was bad, it just didnt match the 8 year hype and build up we waited
