Good question guys.
Technically there was no old skool room perse (most clubs had single rooms) but the music was diverse and consisted new stuff (New Jack, Acid Jazz, Funk etc...) and some “old skool” 60s and 70s classics - Aretha, James, Stevie, Minnie Ripperton, Natalie Cole, Narada Michael Walden, Barkays, Spinners just to name a few.
Here is a typical set from Funktion (I have a mixtape from 3rrr)
Steve Arrington - Dancing in the key of life
Cherelle - Saturday love
Save your love for no.1 - Rene and Angela
Something about you - Angelo Blowfill
Love hit me - Maxine Nightingale
Cross the Track - Maseo
Sex Machine - James Brown
Hangin’ - Chic
Aint - Nobody Chaka Khan
One Step Closer - Gavin Christopher
Juicy Fruit - M-Tume
Rubber Band Man - Spinnger
Boogie Fever - Sylvers
Cain of fool - Aretha
The Fat sets were more New Jack oriented

And there was cross over between the funktion (Fri) and Fat Nights- Funktion was a white Grammar skool gig Fat commercialized the rnb scene in Melb (if not Australia) - It really was the birthplace for Chevron, Warehouse, Carousel, Billboard, and todays icons like Seven...(sounds arrogant I know but its true....)
