Anyone read this article

The Police may have interviewed the ‘victims’ work mates, who may have all confirmed that she was bragging about it. If that was the case, I’d imagine that the brief of evidence would never be authorised as a conviction would be impossible, or at best highly unlikely.
IIRC, the victim doesn’t appear to know any player names (apart from Johns - convenient, as he now has the highest profile) and the fact that it was reported to Police 5 days later would mean that any DNA evidence was long gone. It would be almost impossible to prove who actually had intercourse with the woman, nevermind proving it was rape.
Without knowing all the details of the investigation (which no one apart from the Police do), the only 100% confirmed victim is Johns wife.
Option A - The ‘victim’ may be a victim - If she is truly a victim, then I feel the utmost sympathy for her (both for what she has been through and the failure of the NZ Police to prosecute the offenders) and admire her courage in coming forward and shaming those involved in what is a disgraceful and barbaric act.
Option B - The ‘victim’ may be a gold digger, wanting her moment in the spotlight - If it does turn out that she is just looking for the attention, then I think she should be universally condemed for selfishly dragging the plight of sexually assaulted woman back 10 years.
Is Johns a victim? Well, his reputation and career are in tatters simply for being unfaithful (all he has been found guilty off). Whilst I think that being unfaithful (particuarly in a completely un-intimate and un-loving way) is disgiusting and unforgivable from a partners point of view, being unfaithful is all he has done. How many people in Australia are unfaithful to their partners???
The rest is just a media circus.
One has to wonder what the media response would (or wouldn’t) have been if there was no mention of rape or sexual assault in this matter.
